WebAR Experience — Augmented Reality Without an App
WebAR moves AR experiences from native apps to mobile browsers — no app install, instant engagement.
WebAR experiences let visitors engage with augmented reality directly from a mobile browser, no app install. Stack options: model-viewer for simple single-model AR, 8th Wall for branded experiences with custom logic and AR analytics, Zappar for marketing campaigns with QR-code activation. The key difference from native app AR: no install friction, every visitor with a modern phone can engage. The trade-off: more limited AR features (no LiDAR scanning, simpler tracking) than native ARKit/ARCore. For most marketing AR use cases, WebAR is sufficient and the friction reduction justifies the trade-off.
Timeline
Discovery week 1, design week 1-2, development weeks 2-5, integration and QA week 5-6. Total: 4-6 weeks for the standard scope. Larger scope (configurator, multi-scene scrollytelling) extends to 8-12 weeks. I send weekly progress in writing — you always know where the project stands.
