How it works

The check runs from my server, the same way a visitor opens the site: I read the homepage, robots.txt and the sitemap, and check the images and files the page loads. Nothing on your site is changed and I do not log in anywhere. When available, Google’s own speed measurement (PageSpeed) is added. Everything in the report is measured, not estimated.

Questions

Is the check really free?

Yes. You get the report by e-mail and that is it. If you want, I will also send a short proposal with what I would fix and what it would cost, but only if you reply.

What do you do with my e-mail?

I use it to send the report and to answer if you write to me. No newsletter, and the address is not given to anyone. The request is kept like other inquiries from the site, up to 24 months.

Can I check someone else’s site?

Yes, for example a competitor’s. The check reads only what any visitor can see.

Why are some things missing from the report?

I check only the homepage and what can be measured from the outside. Speed also depends on the moment of measurement, so results can differ from day to day.

How many times can I run it?

The same site to the same address once a day, and at most three reports per address per day. That keeps the tool from being used to send unwanted mail.
